Davidson River Campground Information

The Davidson River Campground is an outdoor camping site situated in the Pisgah National Forest and is a 3-mile ride from Brevard, North Carolina. The campground runs along the Davidson River, thus the name. It’s a perfect place if you’re in for activities such as fishing, swimming, and tubing. Additionally, it is also considered one of the well-known trout fishing spots throughout the southeast region.

You can try the Art Loeb and North Slope Trails if you’re a hiking enthusiast. If you need additional information regarding the area, you can head to the Pisgah Ranger Station. Situated 45 minutes away from the campground is Eclectic Asheville, while Atlanta and Charlotte are located just a few hours away.

What to Expect

Davidson River Campground is situated high up the Pisgah National Forest at a 2,150 feet elevation. It’s surrounded by high peaks, densely forested slopes, and a number of waterfalls. The camping site is situated just adjacent to the famous Davidson River.

Activities

There are lots of activities to do in the area. You can choose to hike trails, such as the Art Loeb Trail or the North Slope Trail which offer a 12.3-mile and 3.7-mile hike respectively. If you want some kid-friendly recreations, you can also go swimming or trout fishing. If you want to study the area further, you can also take part in education programs which are held every fall and summer seasons.

Facilities Available at Davidson River Campground

Campsites are grouped into eight loops with some of them situated near the water. They are mostly placed under trees to offer shade and allow convenient picnic activities. The sites also come complete with tent pads, campfire rings, picnic tables, grills, and lantern posts.

You can also enjoy their hot showers, and there are several restrooms located in each of the loops. If you want some firewood or ice, you can access them from a nearby shop.

You can find a number of attractions near the camping area. Some of them include the Looking Glass Falls, Sliding Rock, and the Blue Ridge Parkway. If you want some additional amenities, you can head to the nearby Brevard town or to Ashville for restaurants and shops.
